Trip Introduction

Everest Base camp with three different high passes Kongma La (5535/18159 ft), Cho La (5420m) and Renjo La (5340m) is for the adventurers who are seeking for the real challenging treks. This trekking is design for the people who are physically fit and want to prove themselves. The main attraction of this trek is the three high passes more then 5,300 with crossing the glaciated crevasses with the spectacular sceneries of surrounding mountains. Getting to the Mount Everest base camp, treks to Kala Patter (5545m/18,192ft), 360 degree view form Gokyo Ri (17,585ft/5,360m) is also the other activities that is involve in this treks.

This trek also introduce trekkers some remote untouched Sherpa village and monasteries. View of 5 eight thousand meter peak, inherent Sherpa culture and the hospitality along the treks, monasteries, prayer wheels and flags, some of the world’s highest passes make this treks an experience of your life time.

If you are looking for challenging treks around Mount Everest then this is a good option for your next trips. Open trail treks also offer some other treks for the trekkers who are looking for trekking to this resign but easier trekking including the famous part. If you are looking for slightly easier treks then three pass but including the high pass you can chick “Everest base camp treks via Gokyon -18 Days” which takes us through the Gokyo and Cho la pass to the Everest base camp. Which also involve the fascinating view from Kala patter and Gokyo Ri. “Everest base camp treks- 14 Days” is design for those people who have limited amount of time and want to treks up to Everest base camp. Our “Everest view treks-9 Days” is design for the old people or people who not very fit physically or have less time.

Package inclusions:

  • Pick-up & drop-off from Kathmandu International Airport by private car.

Day 1: Arrived in Kathmandu (1300m/4264ft)

When you arrived in Tribhuwan International Airport, representative from Open Trail will be there holding your group name or leader name. He will drop off you at the hotel. After checking in, you can take rest or visit Open Trail’s office in Thamel or you can also do some souvenir shopping in Thamel. In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner hosted by Open Trail treks where you will serve authentic Nepalese cuisine. This is a great introduction to Nepalese food culture.

Day 2: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

We will begin our second day with the breakfast before starting a guided tour to some of the historical and religious sites of Kathmandu. These places are listed as world heritage site. We will visit Kathmandu Durbar squire, Buddhist Stupa (Buddha Nath), Hindus secret temple Pashupati Nath. We will end our tour by visiting the Swayambhunath also known as “monkey temple”. In the middle of the tour we will take you to the very special local restaurant for lunch.
After we finish the tour we will meet our trekking guide and leader for dissection and preparation for our following days trekking. In the evening we will go to the different type of local restaurant for the dinner.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Lukla(2800m/9186ft) and trek to Phakding (2600m/8530ft)

Today will begin with an early morning 45 minute flight to the busy village of Lukla, which sits at an altitude of 2,800meters. If you get in quick, the left hand side of the plane will offer you amazing scenery of the Himalayas. Once we arrive in Lukla a quick traditional breakfast. We spend our rest of the day exploring around the Lukla Village.

Day 04: Trek to Chutanga (3,430 m/11,250 ft): 3-4 hours

Today is our first day on foot. We trek eastern side of Lukla. As we are taking different trail then the main trekking trail of this region here we can see very less trekker along the way. We pass through the forest of the birch, fir, pine and rhododendron to the hil of Nau Lekh. There are many trail which can take us away from our main trail so we have to follow our Guide and Sherpa. We can spent over night ta Chutanga.

Day 05: Trek to Thuli Kharka (4320m/13200ft) via Zwatra la (4600 m/14720 ft): 5-6 hours

Our Day begain with the steep climb to reach the top of the Kalo Himal. This Ridge saperate the Khumbu valley and Hinku Valley. As we reach the pass the Buddhist Prayer flages welcome us. Further we round the corner and climb uphill again to the Zatrwa La(4,600m), Here we can be rewarded with the beautiful senery over the Hinku Valley. Another one hour trek can take us to the Thuli Kharka. Overnight at Thuli Kharka.

Day 06: Trek to Kothe (3600 m, /11808ft): 5-6 hour

After breakfast at the teahouse we descend down crossing the three ridge. Further we drop down through the steep downhill to the Hinku River. Our trail again climb uphill through the lush and rhododendron forest on the wast side of the Hinku River to Kothe. We pass thrpiugh the village covered with the Beautiful Rhododendran forest. Overnight at Kothe

Day 07: Kothe to Thaknak (4,350m/14,270ft): 3-4 hours

Today we trek further following the Hinku Khola. In the west Bank of Hinku Drangka there is summer settlement, along the way we pass a 200 year-old Lungsumgba Gumpa. Further about half an hour treks will take us to the Thaknak. We can spend our rest of the day enjouying the senery and the exploring the places around. Overnoght at Thaknak.

Day 08: Thaknak to Khare (5,045m/16,486ft): 2-3 hours

We follow the Dig Kharka enjoying the beautiful view of the Charpate himal. The Trail ascend uphill to the Hinku Nu pans Shar Glaciers. It gates even more steep as we head to Khare. As we reach Khare we can see the magnificent view of the Northen face of Mera. We can spend rest of our day hiking around or accalamatization around the Khare. Overnight at Khare.

Day 09: Rest day in Khare/Acclimatisation:

Today we will have pre-climb trenning on the technique of Claimbing and on use of the claimbing gears. The guide will provides the knowledge on the use of gears such as claimbing boat and cramppons, ice axe, harness. They also teach us the use of rope for claimbing and descending down. We spend overnight at Khare.

Day 10: Khare to Mera Base Camp (5300m/17,384ft): 3-4 hours

We can have breakfast at our camp and start our day. We follow through the steep trail to the Mera Peak Base camp. Total 3 to 4 hour trekking can take us to the base camp of the Mera peak. We can spent rest of our day with preparing ourself for the claimbing,

Day 11: Mera Base Ca Day

We trek through the Mera la Pass to the Mera High camp. The path is quite hard and if there is recently snowed this rocky trail can turnout to be dangerous as well. As we reach high camp we can be rewarded with the spectacular view of the Mt. Everest, Makale, Cho- Oyu, Lotse Nupse and other mountain. Overnight at mera High camp.

Day 12: Mera High Camp to Summit (6,461m/21,1907ft) and back to Khare (5045m/16,547ft):

We wake early today about the 1 and have breakfast and left for the climb about 2 o’clock. Strong wind blows at the summit as it get late in the day so it will be better to start as early as possible for the successful claimbing. As we reach the top enjoy the breathtaking view and of surrounding mountain including Mt. Everest, Cho-oyu, Lotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga. Then we descend down to the high camp and further down to the Khare. Overnight at Khare.

Day 13: Reserve Day for Contingency

There is no guarantee that we will have favorable weather on our planned day for the summit (day 12). Therefore, this day is set aside as a contingency in case we are unable to summit the Mera on day 12 due to bad weather conditions or any other unanticipated reason. However, if the trip goes smoothly, we do not need this spare day, we can use this day to walk back to Lukla at a leisurely pace.

Day 14: Khare to Kothe (3600m/11808ft):

We trek through the same trail we use previously. After 5 hour walking we can reach the kothe. Here we can celebrate our victory over the Mera Peak. Overnight at Kothe.

Day 15: Kothe to Thuli Kharka:

Our trekking ascend uphill through the rhododendron forest through the Hinku valley. We trek 5 to 6 hour through the beautiful rhododentran forest to the Thuli Kharka village. As we reach the Thuli Kharka Village we can enjoy the wonderful senery og Mera north south and the central part. Overnight at Thuli Kharka

Day 16: Thuli Kharka to Lukla:

We ascend to the Zatrwa La pass, as we cross it we can see the lukla valley. We descend to the Chutanga and straight to the Lukla. We can enjoy our last night at mountain. Tomorrow we are going back to Kathmandu By our Early flight. Overnight at Lukla.

Day 16: Fly back to kathmandu

Early morning we go to the Lukla airport for our flight to Kathmandu. 45 minutes breathtaking flight with the view of beautiful scenery of mountain will takes to Kathmandu. We can spent rest of our day exploring the old Darbar. Lots of part of the square is destroyed by the earthquake. You can also do some souvenir shopping around Thamel. At the evening, we will have a farewell dinner hosted by Open trail Treks.

Day 17: – Final diparture

Today is the last day of your adventure. You can have last breakfast together with us. After breakfast if you have time from your flight you can do some shopping or you can go for the sight seen as well. If you want to do some sight seen then you can let us know one day before, we will provide you a car. A representative from Open Trail treks will pick you from hotel to the airport 3 hour before your flight.
