Nar Phu valley trekking is the trekking through the unexplored part of the Annapurna and some part of the Annapurna Circuit Trek. During this trek, we explore the culture, landscape and the places which are unexplored from thousands of year. We can get a chance to feel the Tibetan culture and the soul of the Himalaya. We spend time on the unique and indescribably beautiful town of Nar and Phu at the hidden valley, interact with the inhabitant people and enjoy their hospitality. The magnificent view of the Annapurna massif keeps making our trek even more beautiful.
Accommodation During Trekking
During the trek, we will be staying at local teahouses. These offer accommodation and food served in a dining room which also functions as a social meeting place with other trekkers. All accommodation is on a twin shared basis. A single room is usually available at a little extra cost. The tour guide will arrange the best available accommodation in each village. As we advance to higher and more remote villages it may occasionally be necessary to share a room with more than 2 people. During the treks, most of the bathroom and toilet facilities are shared and toilet can be either a squat or a western toilet.
Meals During Trekking
In Kathmandu we can enjoy authentic Nepalese food such as Thali and Momo at a traditional Nepalese restaurant. For instance the Newari restaurant is a special place serving Newari food (the Newari are the indigenous people of the Kathmandu valley). Newari food is famous and unique. During the trek we will eat traditional Nepalese food as well as more international cuisine (Tibetan, Indian, Italian and continental). Dinner and breakfast will be taken at the teahouse where we spend the night and lunch at one of the trail teahouses.
Day 01 – Arrived in Kathmandu (1310m/4298ft)
When you arrived in Tribhuwan International Airport a representative from Open Trail will be there holding your group name or leader name. He will drop you at the hotel. After checking in you can take rest or visit Open Trail’s office in Thamel or you can also do some souvenir shopping in Thamel. In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner hosted by Open Trail Treks where you will be serve with authentic Nepalese cuisine. This is a great introduction to Nepalese food culture.
Day 02 – Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation
We will begin our second day with the breakfast before starting a guided tour to some of the historical and religious sites of Kathmandu. Which are listed as World Heritage Sites. We will visit Kathmandu Darbar Square, Buddhist Stupa (Buddha Nath), Hindus secret temple Pashupati Nath. We will end our tour by visiting the Monkey temple – Swayambhunath. In the middle of the tour, we will take you to the very special local restaurant for lunch.
After we finish the tour, we will meet our trekking guide and leader for discussion and preparation for our following days trekking.
Day 03 – Kathmandu(1310m/4298ft) to Besi Sahar(760m/2493ft) drive to Bhulbhule(840m/2756ft)
Today we will leave Kathmandu Valley. A tourist bus will pick you from your hotel. We reach Besi Sahar in afternoon after 6 to 7 hours of drive. This drive offer beautiful view of farms, villages, rivers and mountain. From Besi Sahar we catch another bus to Bhulbhule. It will take us one and half hours to reach Bhulbhule.

Day 04: Bhulbhule(840m/2756ft) to Bahundada(1310m/4298ft)
Today we began our trek. We walk through the river bank of the Marsangdi, and cross the small settlement of Nadi and reach the foot of the Bahundada hill. Our trekking trail starts to ascend steadily through the terraces and the village of Bahundada. Bahundada is located at the top of the small hill which offers a beautiful scenery of the greenery mountain and the Marsangdi river.

Day 05: Bahundada(1310m/4298ft) to Chamje(1430m/4692ft)
Today we start with descending from Bahundada to the forest. We walk through the forest till the village of Gharmu. As we arrived at Gharmu, we will be rewarded with the beautiful view of waterfall. Further we descend down to the Marsangdi River and cross the suspension bridge. We then climb small hill to reach Jagat. One hour trek from Jagat could take us to the Chamje.

Day 06:Chamje(1430m/4692ft)to Dharapani (1,860m/6,102ft)
We begin our day with descending down to the Marsangdi River. We cross the suspension bridge over Marsangdi River ans follow the trail that waves ups and down for some time following the bank of river. Then the trial starts to ascend passing through the Rhododendron and Bamboo forest. As we reach the top of the hill, we enter into Manang. Our first Manangi village is Tal. This village is located in the small valley by the side of River. We stop at Tal for lunch. From Tal we trek further for one and half hours crossing the river several times to reach Dharapani.

Day 07: Dharapani (1,860m/6,102ft)to Koto (2,610m/8,563ft)
The trek start with gradual uphill till the Dhanaque. Then the trekking trail start to climb steep stoned uphill for an hour through the forest. Timang village is located at the top of our uphill. We can take nap at Timang; enjoy the magnificent view of Lamjung Himal and Manaslu north. Another two hours trek through the Pine forest, Barley field will takes us to Koto. During this walk, we can enjoy the splendid view of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II and Annapurna IV.

Day 07: Koto to Meta (3,560m/11,680ft)
Today we need to verify our Restricted Area Permit. After the verification, we trek through the bank of Soti Khola to the north side through the Pine forest. We cross the suspension bridge of Soti khola and trek to the Dharmasala. We ascend steep uphill through the forest to the settlement of Meta village. As we reach Meta, we will be rewarded with the magnificent view of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal.

Day 08: Meta to Phu Gaon (4,250m/13,944ft)
The trekking trail for today began with the waves ups and downhills. We also cross the several suspension bridge today at various river. After about three and half hours of walk, we reach Kyang. Here we can see the remain of Khampa settlement. We continue our trekking passing through the Phu Khola to Phu Village.

Day 09:Acclimatization at Phu Gaon
Due to the higher altitude we are going to spend one more day in Phu Gaon for acclimatization. But we are not going stay at this places ideal for the whole day. This is the hidden valley so we can explore the lifestyle, culture, historical places and nature. We can trek to the Tasi Lakhang Monastery. This monastery is listed as 108 world’s great Buddhist monastery.

Day 10:Phu Gaon to Nar (4,110m/13,484ft)
Today we trek further through the Phu village to Nar. We descend down to the small river and cross several suspension bridge above the river till we reach Mahendra pul. We again cross the suspension bridge over Lapche river. This suspension bridge is quite tall the others. We ascend uphill passing several stupas to Nar village. We can enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding mountain including the Pisang Peak.

Day 11:Acclimatization and preparation at Nar
Today is our second acclimatization day. Nar is the beautiful village where we can explore the hidden village of Nar. We can observe the culture, lifestyle, monastery and lamas of these areas.

Day 12:Nar to Kang La Pass (5,322m/17,460ft) to Ngwal (3,660m/12,008ft)
Today is a harder and adventurous day for us. We get up early and trek to Kangla Pass(5322m/17,460ft). It can take long hour for us to reach the pass. As we reach the pass, we are rewarded with the breathtaking view of Annapurna Massif. From here, we continue to trek down to the Ngwal. As we reach Ngwal, we take rest and explore the Ngwal village.

Day 13: Ngwal to Manang (3,540m/11,614ft)
From Ngwal we descend down to the Marsangdi valley and trek further down to the valley passing the Pine forest. On the way, we will visit the monastery of Barga, the largest monastery in the entire district.

Day 14: Manang(3,540m/11,614ft): Rest
Today is an acclimatization day; there are several activities we can do around Manang for the day. It will be better to gain some altitude and come back. Gangapurna Lake is located across the river; it is the perfect day hiking for acclimatization day. We can walk to Gangapurna Lake and climb small hill up to 400 meter following the trail. From this small hill, we can see the gorgeous scenery of Manang, Bhaka village and the valley. Around 3 pm, we can visit Himalayan Rescue Association where we can get free counseling on Mountain Sickness.

Day 15: Manang(3,540m/11,614ft) to Yak Kharka [4,018m/13,182ft]
Today’s trek starts with passing of the settlement of Manang and Tenki Manang. The trek continues by following the Marsangdi valley and later it follows the northwest side of Jarsang.Today we observe the Alpine Tundra Family’s plant and scrub. We will only walk for 3–4 hours today due to higher altitude.

Day 16: Yak Kharka(4,018/13,182ft) to Thorang Phedi [4,400m/15,092ft]
Today we are going to walk to Thorang Phedi, the foot of the Thorang La Pass. Phedi has two teahouses with the basic service. Some trekkers also trek an hour and fifteen minutes, further to the place called High Camp which will make the next day trek easier for them. Even though the following day will be tough, Open Trail Treks guide suggest you to at Thorang Phedi as in High camp you might suffer form altitude sickness.

Day 17: Thorong Phedi to Thorong La (5416m/17764ft) to Muktinath [3,800/12,467ft]
Today is the most important day in our trekking trip. We are going attempt the victory over the highest point of our trek which is one of the most famous highest pass in the world, Thorang La(5416m/17764ft). To complete our mission, we start earlier today. Today it will be the hardest day of our trek. When you reach the top, despite the hardship, the happiness of success as well as the beautiful scenery of surrounding mountains will make you forget the hardship. After this pass, we descend down 1600 meter to Muktinath.

Day 18: Muktinath to Marpha [2,670m/8,760ft]
Muktinath is a sacred place for Hindus and Buddhist pilgrimages. In the morning, we will visit the Bishnu temple and Gumpa of Muktinath. After breakfast we start to descend down form Ranipauwa village passing the village of Jharkot, Buckwheat terraces and Apple orchard. After our arrival at small settlement i.e. Ekle Bhatti, we start to follow the Kaligandagi River to Jomsom, the district headquarters of this region. The strong wind blowing from opposite side makes the walk very hard for rest of the day.

Day 19: Jomsom to Pokhara
In early morning, we fly from Jomsom to Pokhara. The breathtaking flight through Jomsom to Pokhara offers a fabulous view of the mountain. After we arrive in Pokhara, we can take nap and enjoy the day around the lakeside. Overnight at Lakeside Pokhara.
Day 20:Pokhara(820m/2690ft) to Kathmandu(1310m/4330ft)
Today we will return back to Kathmandu. The drive will be of six to seven hours by the side of Trisuli and Marsangdi River. This drive offer an amazing view of the rice terraces village and the landscape of Nepal. You can fly back as well which will only take half an hours. If you want to fly extra cost will be added. At the evening, there will be a farewell dinner where we will analyze the overall trekking and our services.
Day 21: Final Departure
Today is the last day of your adventure. You can have last breakfast with us. After breakfast if you have spare time, you can go for shopping or for sightseeing. For sightseeing inform us a day earlier so that we can provide you a car.
At the end, a representative from Open Trail Treks will drop you at airport 3 hours before your flight.
