Most of the people follow Buddhism in Langtang Valley that’s why we can visit many ancient monasteries in the village and can collect a lot of blessings from there.  Since, we will pass through the flourishing forests of oak, Juniper, rhododendron, pine and maple and there is a chance to see wildlife such as the Himalayan rhesus monkey and Himalayan black bear.  Ganesh Himal (7606m), Ganchempo (6387m), On this trek we will also see many snowcapped mountains including, Naya Kanga (5,846m), Ponggen Dopku (5,930m), Mt. Langtang Lirung (7245m), Yala peak(5500M), Dorje Lakpa(6966m), Urkeinmang(6387m), Loenpo Gang (6979) Ganesh Himal (7606m), Ganchempo (6387m), and Kangchenpo. 

We will begin our trek to Langtang Ganja La pass after having7 hour’s scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. This trail will take us to the charming Langtang Valley. The next day, we trek to Kyangjin Gompa and we will practice acclimatization for a couple of hours to adjust our bodies to higher elevations. Since it’s a pretty sight; we can also visit the valley and riverbeds around Kyangjin Gompa. Later on, we will trek to Tserko Ri (5000m) which gives us an incredible and magnificent view of Langtang Himalaya ranges and peaks like Langtang Lirung (7,246m), Kimshung (6,781m), Yansa Tsenji (6,575m). Hereafter, following our route map we will trek to Ganja La Phedi crossing the Ganja La Pass (5122m). The trek becomes more challenging as we reach the higher elevation.  The view from the top of the pass which is Langtang Lirung and Shishapangma (8013m) in Tibet has a stunning view. As we go down, we trek to Keldang and then to Yak Kharka continuing to Tarke Gyang. Next morning we will trek to Sermathang and then to Malemchi Puul Bazaar, the nature and the view of enchanting villages never fail to be admired. Then with a 2 hours drive, we head back to Kathmandu. Accommodation During Trekking
During the trek, we will be staying at local teahouses. These offer accommodation and food served in a dining room which also functions as a social meeting place with other trekkers. All accommodation is on a twin shared basis. A single room is usually available at a little extra cost. The tour guide will arrange the best available accommodation in each village. As we advance to higher and more remote villages it may occasionally be necessary to share a room with more than 2 people. During the treks, most of the bathroom and toilet facilities are shared and the toilet can be either a squat or a western toilet.

Meals During Trekking
In Kathmandu, we can enjoy authentic Nepalese food such as Thali and Momo at a traditional Nepalese restaurant. For instance, a Newari restaurant is a special place serving Newari food (the Newari are the indigenous people of the Kathmandu valley). Newari food is famous and unique. During the trek, we will eat traditional Nepalese food as well as more international cuisine (Tibetan, Indian, Italian, and continental). Dinner and breakfast will be taken at the teahouse where we spend the night and lunch at one of the trail teahouses.

Langtang Valley With Ganga La Pass trek Itinerary

Day

1

When you arrived at Tribhuwan International Airport, a representative from Open Trail will be there holding your group name or leader name. He will drop you at your hotel. After checking in, you can take a rest or visit Open Trail’s office in Thamel or go for some souvenir shopping in Thamel. In the evening, a welcome dinner is hosted by Open Trail Treks where you will be served with authentic Nepalese Cuisine. This will be a great introduction to Nepalese food culture.

Before starting our guided tour we will have breakfast. The guided tour includes the historical and religious sites of Kathmandu. These places are also listed in the world heritage site. The most famous places like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Buddhist Stupa (Buddha Nath), Hindus Secret Temple; Pashupatinath are included in this tour. We will end our tour by visiting the Swayambhunath, The Monkey Temple.

After we finish the tour we will meet our trekking guide and leader for dissection and preparation for our following day's trips.

In the evening, we will go to different types of local restaurants for the dinner.

Today we start our trip after having breakfast. We head to the northern side of Kathmandu Valley on a bus. Our bus journey is about 8 hours long. Our destination today is Shaprubesi.

Today is the first day of our trek which begins after breakfast at Shaprubesi. As we began our trek, we cross the suspension bridge and start to follow the Langtang River. The trail climbs steadily uphill through the Oak, Rhododendron, and Bamboo forest. If we are fortunate enough we might get to see some wildlife in this forest. In the difference of an hour or more, we reach Lama Hotel. This area has several teahouses and we have our lunch in one of these teahouses.

After breakfast, we start our trek. We walk through the Oak, Rhododendron, and Bamboo forest. The trail goes uphill to Ghodatabala. From Ghodatabala we walk further through the gradual way to Langtang. Langtang is the biggest settlement area of this region. We do some sightseeing trip in Langtang village.

Today we trek for short time and save the spare hours for acclimatizing purposes. We pass through Langtang village and follow the Langtang River. This whole area is the Alpine Tundra region so it’s beyond the tree line. Following the trails, we reach Kyanjin Gompa which is famous for its cheese factory and spectacular scenery of the mountain.

After breakfast, we can climb to an amazing viewpoint at Kyanjin Ri (4,800m/15,748ft) and Tserko Ri (5000m/15,748ft). These two viewpoints offer a majestic view of the mountain including Langtang Lirung, Yannsa Tsenji, and the whole Langtang range. From viewpoint, we can come back to Kyanjin Gompa.

We start our trekking after breakfast to Ganja La Phedi. We cross the Langtang River and ascend through the Rhododendron forest. After crossing the forest we arrive at the point which is beyond the tree line. We can see some alpine tundra family’s plant in this region. These areas are usually covered with snow. If the area is covered by snow it will take us more time in trekking.

Today is the most challenging day in our whole trekking. The Ganja La pass is one of the hardest passes of Nepal. It is usually covered by snow throughout the year. The long climb with high altitude through the snow can be very tough. But when you reach the summit of Ganja La, you will be rewarded with the magnificent scenery of the Himalaya. Descending down through the pass can be hard due to snowfall and ice.

From Keldang we trek to reach Yak Kharka. From Keldang we descend further down following a prominent ridgeline. In today’s trek, we continue losing altitude through forests, ridges, and grasslands.

Today we begin trekking by descending downhill. By the end of trekking, we will descend down by 1500 meters. Now we can feel the considerable change in topology due to less altitude.

Today we begin our trekking by forest and passing through some high waterfall. The trail keeps continuing through the wide valley. We pass some settlement of inhabitant Sherpa people at Parachin and Gangyul. From Gangyul, we trek to Sermathang. Here at Sermathang, we can do sightseeing around the town which will give us an opportunity to observe the life of locals. We can also visit the monastery that is located at the top of the village.

This is our last day of trekking. We walk down from Sermathang to the inhabited Sherpa settlement at Melamchi Bazar. From Melamchi, we will catch the bus to Kathmandu. After we get back to Kathmandu you can rest or go for some souvenir shopping or sightseeing at Kathmandu. In the evening we will have a farewell dinner at a local authentic restaurant with their unique food.

Today is the last day of your adventure. If you want we can have the last breakfast together. After breakfast, if you have time from your flight, you can go for some shopping or you can go for sightseeing as well. If you want to do some sightseeing inform us a day earlier so that we can provide you a car.

In the end, a representative from Open Trail Treks will drop you at the airport 3 hours before your flight.
