Day
1
When you arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport, a representative from Open Trail will be there holding your group name or leader name. He will taxi you to drop off you at the hotel. After checking in, you are welcome to rest or visit Open Trail’s office in Thamel, which is located in the heart of a major shopping district. In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner hosted by Open Trail Treks, where you will be served authentic Nepalese cuisine. This is a great introduction to Nepalese food and culture. (Budget trekking package doesn’t include welcome dinner)

Today after having breakfast, we will head toward historical and religious sites tour in Kathmandu. These sites are listed as world heritage sites. We will visit Kathmandu Darbar Square, Buddhist Stupa (Buddha Nath), Hindus secret temple Pashupati Nath. We will end our tour by visiting the Swayambhunath also known as “monkey temple”. In the middle of the tour, we will take you to a very special local restaurant for lunch. After we finish the tour, we will have a consultation with our trekking guide or leader regarding the preparation for our following days' trip.

The day begins with an early morning 45-minute flight to the busy village of Lukla, which sits at an altitude of 2,800meters. If you get in quick, the left-hand side of the plane will offer you amazing scenery of the Himalayas. Once we arrive in Lukla a quick traditional breakfast will set you up for an easy 3-hour hike, crossing the mountain ranges via high suspension bridges – which are not for the faint-hearted. The track will take us to the first guesthouse, a little village called Phakding where a fire will warm your legs up in preparation for tomorrow’s strenuous trek.

This morning will start early with a gasping climb over 600 meters to Namche Bazaar testing the fittest of trekkers. The hike will begin by crossing over the Dudh Kosi River and follow the East Side of the mountain ranges. Although the walk is testing the track will take you through high mountain ranges with sample views of what you will be rewarded with for the remainder of the trek. It is during this climb to Namche that you will notice the altitude and once reaching the village, tomorrow’s rest day will feel well deserved.

Namche is the hub of the Khumbu region and many locals will gather there for the daily markets to trade and sell items. This gives you a great opportunity to explore the center and pick up any last supplies you may need for the rest of the trek. There is also a famous German Bakery here where you can indulge in freshly brewed coffee and cake.

The fourth day of our trek begins with a climb up to the airstrip at Syangboche. Then, we continue climbing to Everest View Hotel with a view of some famous mountains of Amadabalam, Thamserku, Kongde, and others. At the hotel, the full beauty of Mount Everest can be seen. After descending 20 minutes from here, we arrive at Khumjung village which is located in a valley surround by snowcapped mountains. After lunch at Khumjung, we can do some sightseeing around Khumjung and Khungde village. We can visit the famous Sir Edmund Hilary School as well.

We begin our day by descending down to the Dudh Kosi river passing through some small settlements. We will also pass through rhododendron and pine forests. We cross the suspension bridge over the Dudh Kosi river and stop for lunch. After lunch, we take a final steep climb for 2 hours to Tengboche through the forest of pine and fir. Tengboche has a famous monastery to explore. The scenery of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Amadabalam, Tawachee, Kantega, Thamserku, and kongde make this place a photographer’s paradise. We spend the night here.

The trekking begins with descending down to the Dudhkoshi river through rhododendron, pine, and fir forests. In spring, this part of the track becomes more beautiful due to the blossom of the rhododendrons. We cross the river and start climbing up through the Sherpa villages; Tashinga, Sansa to Kyangjuma. If we are lucky we may see Snow Leopards, colorful pheasants, and mountain goat on this part of the trek. We can spend some time in Namche Bazar where we can visit the bakery for coffee and cakes. Then we will descend steep downhill through the pine forest and cross the suspension bridge over Dudhkosi and Bhotekosi river. After checked out at the Sagarmatha National park we reached the Monjo village where we will spend the night.

It is an easy day today. We walk through the valley of Dudhkosi. The trekking is mostly gentle up and downhill and crossing of several suspension bridges. While walking through the villages, we can observe the lifestyle of the inhabitant Sherpa people. After we get back to Lukla we can look around the town. We can celebrate our last day at the Irish Pub and we stay overnight in Lukla.

Early morning we go to Lukla Airport for our flight to Kathmandu. A 45-minute breathtaking flight with the view of the beautiful scenery of the mountain will take us back to Kathmandu. We can spend the rest of our day exploring the old town of Kathmandu. You can also do some souvenir shopping around Thamel. In the evening, we will have a farewell dinner hosted by Open Trail Treks.

Today is the last day of your adventure. We have a last breakfast together. After breakfast, if you have time from your flight you can do some shopping or go sightseeing. A representative from Open Trail Treks will pick you from the hotel and drop you at the airport 3 hours before your flight.
